BerGIS i EUs forskingsstrategi

ESFRI (European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures) la i oktober fram rapporten "European roadmap on research infrastructures". Mandatet til ESFRI var å lage eit veikart for EUs forskingsstrategi dei neste 20 åra. Rapporten er eit av det viktigaste styringsdokumentet for FP7:Capacities, det eine av fire særprogram innafor det sjuande rammeprogrammet. På s. 69 i ESFRI-rapporten finn vi overskrifta "The Hanseatic Historical Archives Network..."

The Hanseatic Historical Archives Network, in association with the Wittgenstein Archives (WAB) and MENOTA:

It supports development of electronic archival tools and gives access to archival material. It will help historians and librarians and archivists digitise hanseatic archives within a maximum availability network. The technical concept is XML-based treatment of catalogue data and full textual data together with images. WAB is a humanities research infrastructure specialising on philosophy, Wittgenstein research, and editorial philology and text technology. Menota is a co-operative effort of the leading Nordic editorial institutions (archives, libraries and societies). It aims at implementing standards for the encoding and display of medieval primay sources, in the Nordic vernaculars as well as in Latin, and for building a pan-Nordic lexicographical database.”

Setninga "The technical concept is XML-based treatment of catalogue data and full textual data together with images." beskriv kjernen i BerGIS.

Det sjuande rammeprogrammet har fire særprogram, og det eine har tittelen "Capacities". Føremålet med "Capacities" er å fremje infrastruktur for forsking og innovasjon gjennom internasjonalt samarbeid. "Capacities"-programmet er igjen delt i seks tema, der det første og meste sentrale er "Research infrastructures". Det viktigaste grunnlaget for denne delen av det sjuande rammeprogram (Capcities-Research Infrastructures) er beskrive i rapporten "European roadmap on research infrastructures". Rapporten blei lagt fram i oktober 2006 av ESFRI (European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures).
