What the Program Board Does:

The program board is responsible for the MPCT program at the
University of Tromsø. Issues regarding teaching, thesis examinations,
courses, plagiarism, evaluations, etc are dealt with in this board.
Other matters dealing with staff and the CPS center are dealt with on
the CPS board.

Current Issues:

In late April, the program board will be taking a look at the
program as a whole, taking suggestions on when classes should take
place and what classes should be taught/required. This is an attempt
to take a step back and take a long view at the program overall instead
of just looking at individual courses. This "meeting" will actually be
a workshop before the official Program Board meeting, so brainstorming
and ideas are VERY welcomed. Please inform Scott or Joyce of your
ideas.

Questions to Consider when Looking at the Study Plan:

What kind of thesis are we expecting students to write?

What do students need in order to prepare for and complete such a thesis?

• Are we adequately providing this to them in a timely manner?

What common content do we want all students to be exposed to?

• Are we sufficiently purposeful and focused enough in what we provide, and by whom?

• Can we be more mindful/flexible in when we provide it? (What is
necessary to feed the thesis, what is sufficient to feed their minds?)

• Are there better ways to examine students (both in terms of their
learning and in terms of our use of human and financial resources)

When do students need:

1) what is necessary in order to successfully complete a thesis within the allotted time frame?

2) What we want them to have of common content?
