Projects
The activity in the group is to a large extent dependent on our ability to attrack external funding. Currently we quite nice project portefolio. Ongoing, external funded projects, run by the group are:
- CODY: “Computational Dynamics of Quantum Systems”. This is 4 years project starting in 2006. The project is funded by the Norwegian Research Council . The project has 1 Post.Doc. Ilan Degani and a Ph.D. student. In this project we focus on novell computational techniques for Dynamical Quanntum System.
- NANOBASIC, Qmat-I: “Multiscale molecular modelling of functional nanostructures”. NANOBASIC is a huge interdiciplinary project with participation from the Dept. of Chemistry Dept. of Microbiolgy, Dept. of Physics and Technology and Dept. of Mathematics from the University of Bergen + the Computational Biology Unit of BCCS at UNIFOB.
The project is a part of the nanoscience program at UoB .
Qmat-I is the subproject executed by this group. This subproject finance the Ph.D. project of Tore Birkeland. The purpose of this project is to produce computational tools for solving the Time Dependent Schrödinger equation.
- Quantum transport in nanoscale systems: This is 4 years project starting in 2004. The project is funded by The Norwegian Research Council and is a part of a national theory network between UiB, NTNU and UiO. Victoria Popsueva is the UiB PhD student in the network. She studies electron dynamics and structure in coupled quantum dots. The project has 3 Ph.D. students.
- Structure and Dynamics of Complex Excited Atomic Systems: This is 4 years project starting in 2006. The project is funded by theNorwegian Research Council . The project has 2 Ph.D. students. In this project we focus on the theory of atoms in strong electromagneic fields in close collaboration with output from the CODY project.
- Nordic network - Fundamental quantum processes in atomic and molecular systems which runs from 2003 til the end of 2007. The network organizes 2-3 annual meeting with focus on research education. This years meeting will be on Iceland.
