Welcome to Gjøvik University College

Gjøvik University College (GUC) is one of 25 state university colleges in Norway and has approximately 1700 students and 200and administrative staff. It was established in 1994 as part of the national reorganisation of higher education and consists of two former institutions within engineering and nursing education. Gjøvik University College is organised in three academic departments and offers studies within health and social work, health technology, engineering, computer science and media technology. GUC is localised at Kallerud in Gjøvik.

Gjøvik is situated on the western side of Lake Mjøsa (Norway's biggest lake), in the county of Oppland. In addition to GUC, there are two other institutions of higher education in the region surrounding Mjøsa - Lillehammer University College and Hedmark University College. These three institutions cooperate in a number of ways and have started a process that will possibly lead to the consolidation into a university. As a first step, Gjøvik and Lillehammer University College will merge in 2007. The two institutions established a joint international office in 2005.
