The follow-up phase consists of:
- appraisal interview
- homecoming seminar
- follow-up activities
Appraisal interview
Before participants return to their home country, they and their co-workers in the host country should sum up the exchange.
When the participants then return to their home country, they and the partner should likewise sum up the exchange and look at further plans. This should be done in order to eliminate any pitfalls and strengthen the project in the interests of further exchanges.
Both the participants and partners should consider ways of further ensuring project quality. From the exchange, partners and participants alike will have gained valuable experience and insights that will be important for all those involved to incorporate and discuss. The partnership should follow up the participants for a minimum of six months following their return.
Homecoming seminar
Fredskorpset organises a two-day homecoming seminar for partner representatives and North and South participants in Norway after the posting abroad. The purpose of this seminar is to view the exchange from the perspectives of the participant, the partner and Fredskorpset. For South participants in Norway, a homecoming seminar will be held shortly before they leave. These seminars will be held on weekdays.
Follow-up activities
In order to reinforce the learning benefits of the exchange among the partners and in their environments, it is important for know-how and experience to be transferred to more than just the individuals who are exchanged. The partnership should work jointly with participants to coordinate the transfer of what the participants have learnt and experienced. Follow-up activities constitute the final formal phase in a Fredskorpset project.
For most partnerships, follow-up activities will focus on the feedback of know-how and expertise at a more specialised level. However, conditions in the host country, such as cultural and political issues, will also present relevant topics for awareness-raising.
Activities are to be detailed in the programme of follow-up activities.
Examples of activities:
- presentations at seminars and conferences
- organising workshops at own workplace or elsewhere
- visits to local societies/associated enterprises
- writing articles for intranets, the Internet, professional journals and/or local media
