The students will get a basic introduction to sociological theory and method, and they will also get practice in analysing social problems from a sociological point of view.
The students will acquire knowledge of central institutions in society and develop an ability of sociological thinking by seeing the connections between social structure, individualisation and historical processes. They will acquire this through two basic courses in the autumn semester, while the courses in the spring semester show some of the breadth within sociology.
When the one-year programme is completed, the students may continue on the Bachelor’s degree programme in Social Studies at Lillehammer University College or on a Bachelor’s degree programme in sociology at another university or university college.
