Getting to Trondheim

Værnes Airport (Trondheim)

Værnes Airport is located 30 km north of Trondheim. There are regular flights to Værnes from Gardermoen Airport, Oslo, and also non-stop flights from Copenhagen, Amsterdam, London (Stanstead), Frankfurt (only in the summer) and some other cities. In addition there are plenty of domestic flights, north and south bound. Holders of student identity cards are entitled to discounted fares on domestic flights.

There are several bus companies operating to and from Værnes Airport. We recommend you to take Værnes-Ekspressen from the airport, since they operate on a route which will bring you directly to Moholt (the dorm you will most likely stay in Trondheim). Ask the bus driver to make sure the bus stops at Moholt Studentby.

If you are going to take one of the other airport busses, you have to change in the city centre. From the main square ("Torget") take the number 5 bus marked "Dragvoll" or number 66 marked "Jakobsli".

If you want someone to meet you when you arrive, and thereafter show you to your apartment, make sure you hand us your detailed travel information well in advance.

Railway

There is a regular service between Oslo and Trondheim, and the train also stops at Gardermoen (Oslo) Airport. This trip lasts approximately seven hours. Students are entitled to a 25% discount on domestic departures provided they have a valid student identity card. If you are booking in advance, you might get one of the limited "Minipris" tickets. These tickets must be purchased at least one day before the date of travel.
