Wikis in general
What is a wiki?
Why should we use a wiki?
- Because it makes it easier for anybody, and especially non-technical users, to add content.
- Because it makes it easier to collaborate when creating documents.
Using the wiki
- First you need to get a user account by contacting Terje Røsand. Then, log in.
- To edit a page, just click on edit above a page you want to edit, write something, and then click on Save page.
- A red link means that the page doesn't exist yet. Click on the link if you want to create it.
- More about editing pages
- Just ask questions.
Potential applications of this wiki
- A partial or complete replacement for http://hi.ntnu.no
- Dictionaries of terminology in Norwegian and English
- Student project proposals
- Homepages for projects, courses and people that don't have homepages elsewhere
- Links to relevant resources
- Book recommendations
- Calendar
- CFPs
- Discussions
Student project pages
How do I create a student project page?
Do the following:
- Log in. (Create a user if you don't have one.)
- Go to Student projects.
- Click "edit".
- Add a link to your coming page like this: [[Your project title]]
- Save.
- Go to The template testing project.
- Click "edit".
- Copy all the wiki code.
- Click on the link you just created at Student projects.
- Click "edit".
- Paste the code you just copied. Your project page now contains an application of the Student project template.
- Edit the template application you just pasted, replacing the variable values with information about your project.
- Do not write anything outside the template application.
- Preview and edit until your are satisfied.
- Save.
(Here is the Template. Here is some info about templates. You probably don't need to read that.)
Email Ole if you have any questions.
