Nordic Magazine for Health Research

Nordisk tidsskrift for
                         helseforskning

The Target Group

The magazine provides a channel for Nordic researchers who conduct health research and who wish to publish their own research and keep up-to-date on what is happening in the field.

Academic profile

The magazine will keep a broad subject profile reflecting research and development work at Nordic Health Educational institutions and their adhering practice fields. From the point of view of content each edition of the magazine consists of one to three referee judged scientific articles. Recognised researchers at professor, and associate professor level are involved in assessment and refereeing the articles. We accept one to three articles based on R&D work, essays, debate presentations etc. These will not be referee assessed, but will be studied carefully.   The magazine has this far contained three articles as well as debate pieces of work and book reviews within each number.

We wish for a broad subject profile reflecting research and development activity in the educational institutions. This may be health service research and also patient/client directed research. Patient directed research can, for example, be clinically oriented or be based on patient experience and situations. Health service research can be professionally directed or system directed. We will interpret health service research to concern education of health personnel. Which challenges are we faced with in the health education institutions and where does the road lead? In other words, we aim for a broad spectre of different angles.

Language policy

In academic circles we see the national languages being put under pressure and growing weaker in relation to English. This is happening independently of whom one actually addresses oneself to. In   Nordic Magazine for Health Research the offerings are to be written in the Nordic languages. This means in this connection in Norwegian, Swedish or Danish. There are several reasons for this. Firstly we see it to be unfavourable for the academy to use another language than that societies and cultures are founded on. Knowledge and experience is disseminated through language. Language and concept development are one of the academy’s   most important contributions to society. When one leaves a language, one distances oneself from the people who explain themselves through this language. We wish the subject development to be presented through Nordic Magazine for Health Research, to have a potential outside the academy, in relation to patients and staff in various practice fields and in education.
