Eduroam with Linux - NetworkManager
Network-Manager
NetworkManager is an interface for connecting to a network in Linux, and it supports wireless networks and several forms of encryption. To read more about NetworManager visit the NetworkManager project homepage .
Connecting to Eduroam with NetworkManager
- Right-click the NetworkManager icon. The default placement of the icon in gnome is to the top right of your screen.
- From the list of networks choose "Eduroam"
- You should now have a screen that is identical to the picture above, with the exception of "Identity" and "password".
- In the field titled "Identity" enter "yourusername@ntnu.no"
- In the field titled "Password" enter your password.
- If your network card supports it, you can change the "Wireless Security" field to "WPA2 Enterprise", which will give you increased privacy.
- Press the button "Login to Network" to connect to Eduroam.
You will now either be asked to type the password of your "keyring", or to create a keyring. The keyring can be used to store your passwords and settings so that you don't have to remember all your different passwords. If you have already created the password you type this to connect, if not follow the wizard to create your own key.
When you have done all of the above you will see that the NetworkManager icon starts moving, and after a little while you'll hopefully see the message:
