When communicating electronically, with e-mail, USENET and other services on a network which we are used to from everyday life, there are certain rules of conduct one should abide to. We call these rules netiquette. For a summary of guidelines when using written communication see here.
Serious users on the Internet expect other users to know and follow these rules. Any behaviour which not complying with these rules will likely be considered a nuisance.
