Setting up the network connection

  1. Go to the Start-menu -> Control Panel -> Network Connections. Right-click the wireless network connection and choose Properties. Then click Add
    Add
  2. Type in SSID eduroam in the Network name-field and choose WPA as Network Authentication and TKIP as Data encryption.
    SSID
  3. Then click the Authentication-tab and choose Protected EAP(PEAP) as EAP-type. When you have done this click the Properties-button in the same window.
    EAP properties
  4. Now you need to choose the security certificate you installed. Scroll down till you find the certificate GTE CyberTrust Global Root and check this.(NOTE! Don't check any other certificates, this will reduce the security of your connection) You also have to choose authentication method. Choose Secured Password(EAP-MSCHAP v2). Then click the Configure-button.
    Sertifikat
  5. Remove the cross next to Windows logon, then click OK. You are now done with the configuration and you should be ready to connect to the network.
    Not Windows Logon
  6. Richt-click the Wireless network-icon and choose Show Wireless networks. Double-click the SSID eduroam. Now a bubble from the start menu will appear, asking you to click it, do so. You now have a window like the one below. Type username@ntnu.no and your NTNU password. The field Logon Domain should be left empty. Double-click on the network id (SSID) eduroam. It's important that you have @ntnu.no after your user name so the system recognizes you as a NTNU user. You will then be authorized and have access to the network.
    Enter credentials

NOTE!
For some users NTNU passwords that hasn't been changed since 15. august 2006 will not work. To correct this you need to change your password which can be done HERE

When you have properly configured eduroam and everything is in order you can safely remove NTNU from the networks you usually connect to, as eduroam is always available where NTNU networks are available, and it is easier and more secure to use.

To remove the NTNU connection you go to the Start-menu -> Control Panel -> Network Connections. Here you choose your wireless connection, richt-click and click properties. Then you click the tab Wireless networks. If NTNU is added you will find it in the list below. Choose ntnu from the list and click Remove.

If you want to connect to eduroam every time it is available you can move it to the top of the list by choosing eduroam from the list and pressing Move up till it's on top of the list.
