Admission of international students

Exchange Students
Exchange students can be admitted to Lillehammer and Gjøvik University Colleges through international programmes (Erasmus, Nordplus, Leonardo) or bilateral agreements. Students from partner institutions who want to take a part of their studies (3 - 12 months) at Lillehammer/Gjøvik UC should apply through the International Office at their home institution and in accordance with the established local procedures.

Most courses are taught in Norwegian, and even though there are no linguistic requirements for students within the Erasmus programme, foreign students should have a satisfactory command of the Norwegian language if they intend to take courses taught in Norwegian. A few courses are taught in English. More information.

Full Degree Students
Applicants to regular degree programmes at Lillehammer/Gjøvik UC must meet the minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway. A secondary school leaving certificate normally satisfies this requirement. In Norway, it is issued upon completion of a 3-year general study in natural sciences, humanities, or in technical and vocational subjects, giving a total of 12 years of education below university level. This is the standard college and university matriculation requirement. Applicants from European countries are eligible for admission upon completion of the secondary school leaving certificate that provides the basis for admission to university studies in the home country. Entrance requirements for applicants from non-European countries may include one or two years of university studies in addition to secondary school.

There are specific requirements for Norwegian and English proficiency.

Applications to undergraduate studies at public institutions of higher education in Norway are processed by a centralised application processing centre - Universities and Colleges Admission Service ("Samordna opptak" in Norwegian). The application deadline is 1 March.
