Topic
The main topic in the research school is learning, communication and ICT (Information and Communications Technology)
Aim
The research school emphasizes internationalisation, the foundation of a community with both good professional and social qualities and aims at contributing to more efficient progression in the Ph.D education.
Internationalisation
Internationalisation is approached in following ways:
- Lectures and seminars are held in English
- Publications (articles and papers) are directed towards international conferences and journals
- Ph.D candidates participate in peer reviewed paper presentations at seminars and international conferences such as ISCAR, CSCL and Earli
- Research school activities are tied to international oriented scholars and research communities
The research school as a professional and social community
A productive community is accomplished by way of:
- Frequent gatherings concerning research issues
- Including social aspects in some gatherings
- Group-based follow-up of candidates in equivalent stages
Progression
The research school emphasises that the candidates participating in the course complete their thesis within the formal time limits set by the faculty research programme. The following measures are taken to realize this goal:
- Organizing a course structure that corresponds to the candidates needs
- Giving supervision (individually and in groups) related to specific projects/courses/seminars and relevant literature
- Supervisors take part as co-writers/co-publishers
- Supporting the writing process by organizing collective response groups
