IT systems for information access will be a key enabler for decision support in any patient-centric future healthcare application.
Within the activities of MILAB, a workflow infrastructure will be developed for improvement and quality assurance of image-based diagnosis at the initial point of care. The workflow infrastructure will include case based, evidence based and collaboration based decision support tools. An example of collaboration based support tasks include sharing of patient data with a medical specialist, and reaching a decision through cooperation. The goal is to outsource image management from the initial point of care and enable the patient, hospitals and future points of care to have full access to medical histories in a totally secure manner.
