What you will see in Svinvik's Arboretum

Svinvik's Arboretum is a botanical garden of mostly shrubs and trees. The original arboretum which was laid out in the steep hills leading down to the Todal fjord is dominated by conifers and rhododendron. In other parts of the estate, many deciduous trees and bushes have been planted in addition to the conifers and rhododendron.

There are many beds with an abundant diversity of lowgrowing rhododendrons and other plants requiring lime-free soil.

Many of the plants in the arboretum are provided with labels displaying the scientific and common Norwegian name of the taxon, botanical family, natural distribution, and accession year and number.

Visitors are invited to roam the gardens on their own, but during top season there are guided tours for individuals daily at 2 p.m. (in Norwegian) . Advance booking is not required. Guided tours for groups can be ordered in advance. Please, consult Opening hours and entrance fees.
