History
Unifob natural Sciences was established December 2002. About 50 person-years years are carried out each year.
Unifob natural Sciences has a dual profile.
One part of the acticity in the department consists of scientific projects carried out by research groups at The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at The University of Bergen. To a large extent the scientists are engaged temporarily. Unifob natural Sciences has established research co-operation and to some extent strategic co-operation with the Insitute of Biology and the Institute of Molecular Biology.
The other part of the activity is organized as Section of applied environmental research (SAM). SAM has expertise in marine biology as well as fresh water biology, and carries out contract research projects for private industry and the public sector.
