Programme descriptionThis program consists of six course modules and a research project/thesis that leads up to an Executive MBA in International Seafood Management. The programme is a joint collaboration with the Grimsby Institute of Further & Higher Education and Norwegian College of Fishery Science, University of Tromsø. The aim of this program is to provide students that have a Bachelor's or Master´s Degree in Science, Social Science, Economics or Business Administration (or equivalent degree) the opportunity to specialize in International Seafood Management.
The MBA is an interdisciplinary program with modules that have broad appeal to those involved in senior management and inspection roles within the international seafood sector. The program will give knowledge of scientific theory and methods, and will give the students experience in the use of scientific theory and method, and develop the students´ understanding and reflection of International Seafood Management. The student will carry out six course modules over a period of 1.5 years (total of 60 credits). The students will then do their fieldwork to gather data and information for the thesis (30 credits). A typical thesis is problem-oriented and the model can be based on both primary and secondary data. Themes should require a limited amount of field or experimental work, due to the time constraint, and the thesis should include a literature survey or review, theory and methods used, data applied, results and policy and managerial implications. All students are required to present proposals for their own thesis. Discussion of the research process and scientfic method as applied in management related research. Topics include problem identification, hypothesis, sources of data, sampling concepts and designs, methods of collecting and analysing data, and the writing process. During the course each student develops a research proposal that may be associated with his or her thesis.
