The Master’s degree programme is a 2-year offer of further education for those who wish to continue their studies in information science on completion of their Bachelor's degree. During these two years you will specialize within a particular field and conclude your degree with a Master’s thesis. Your choice of field and topic for your thesis will be related to the Department’s research within each field of study.
Courses of specialization:
Artificial intelligence and learning
This course focuses on how we can make computers more intelligent and how to use information science to support learning: Knowledge-based methods, evolutionary methods, intelligent user interfaces, image understanding and net-based learning.
Systems engineering and human-machine interaction (HMI)
This course focuses on interdisciplinary studies of information science in practice: Information science and organizational development, design of user interfaces, multimedia and learning programs, systems development and quality assurance.
Information resource management
This course focuses on theories, methods and technology for managing information and knowledge: Structuring, storing and organizing information similar to documents, digital libraries, knowledge management, information retrieval and multimedia.
Complex computer systems
This course focuses on how to solve complex problems by using computers: Calculation-intensive program systems, intelligent ways of organizing data, how search engines work, production of three-dimensional images and film, and the division between software and machines.
