Student Services

The Student Services division is part of the central administration at Bodø University College. The division has 14 members of staff, and has the operative responsibility for the following functions:

 Recruitment and Marketing
There is considerable competition between the different universities and university colleges in Norway. Bodø University College carries out extensive marketing activity to recruit students to approximately 90 different study programmes. This activity is run throughout the year, and demands thorough planning, coordination and follow up.

 Information Material
As part of the recruitment activity, Bodø University College produces brochures and other printed information material. Each department develops information material for the department or separate study programmes, whereas Student Services Division has the responsibility for all joint information material. The Course Catalogue is the most important product, and is available in printed and electronic version on the internet.

 Admission
The Student Service Division is responsible for the local and parts of the national student admission through Universities and Colleges Admission Service (UCAS – Samordna opptak). In addition, we admit international and single-course students, all in all 5-6000 applications annually.

Reception and Registration of New Students
We deem it very important that new students get off to a pleasant start of their studies. In cooperation with the Bodø Buddy (Fadderordningen) and the Welcoming (Velkomsten), we work to take care of each single student in the best possible way. New students are registered in our administrative system in order to give them access to all facilities and the right to take exams.

 Student Advising
Bodø University College has several student advisers, both at the Departments and at Student Services. We give advice about study possibilities in Bodø and abroad to prospective and current students at Bodø University College. Our student adviser is also contact to disabled and special needs persons.

 Timetable Planning
The Student Services Division plans the timetable in cooperation with the departments twice annually. The semester timetable is announced by the end of the previous semester.

 Planning and Arranging Exams
Exam schedules are coordinated by the Student Services. Annually, Bodø University College arranges approximately 35,000 single examinations. The departments are responsible for all practicalities in association with the arrangement of exams.

Dealing with Examination Results and Announcements
The departments appoint external examiners, and the Student Services Division receives, registers and announces the exam results.

Diplomas, Diploma Supplements and Transcripts of Records
When a student has completed his or her studies, the Student Services Division prepares the necessary documentation.

 Student Mobility
Our International Coordinator gives help and advice to international and outgoing exchange students, and is responsible for administrating student mobility.

 Information Services
The Student Services Division is responsible for information concerning all areas mentioned above. Information is made available to students in catalogues and brochures, via web, e-mail, telephone and sms.
We also run the Information Desk at Bodø University College, located by the main entrance.
