Research for PhD degrees:

My PhD research work is funded by Ås Kommune.

The eutrophication of the Lake Årungen: Fish community, habitat and resource use, and pollution by mercury (Hg) and persistent organic compounds (POPs).

Some of the articles (preliminary) that will be produced out of the research work are as follows:

  • Article 1: Sharma, C.M., Borgstrøm, R. (Accepted). Age determination and back-calculation of pike length through use of metapterygoid bone. Journal of Fish Biology.

  • Article 2: Sharma, C.M., Borgstrøm, R., Rosseland, B.O. (Ready for submission). Do trophic position and growth rates determine mercury concentrations in fish in a eutrophic lake? Science of the Total Environment.

  • Article 3: Manipulation of the pike population in the lake Årungen; effects on recruitment and population structure of pike and perch (in preparation).

  • Article 4: Habitat use of roach and perch in the eutrophic lake Årungen before and after manipulation of pike (in preparation).

  • Article 5: Organic pollutants in fish at different trophic levels in the Lake Årungen, Norway. (This is very preliminary topic for the persistent organic pollutants for our work that can be divided into many parts later on).
