On completion of the course students should:

- Know how digital recording og playback is working, and hereby know the limitations analog sources and our perseption organs are setting
- Understand the teoretic foundation of working with sound and images in computers
- Know the basic principles in the most common technices of compression
- Know the principles og how to use the most common methodes in picture improvement
- Have the knowledge of speech synthesis and recognition
- Experienced use of hardware and software for recording, playback and work with sound
- Experinced use of software for imageprocessing
