The programme is suitable for students who wish to work behind camera and perform all the basic technical work in single- and multi-camera productions in a professional way. Television technicians work closely with the directors and contribute to the realisation of a story from idea to television programme.

The programme consists of the following 8 subject areas: recording techniques for single-camera production, editing, narrative techniques and dramaturgy, documentary and television history, multi-camera production, production planning, sound, video and television techniques.

NB! Special application procedure
The applicants must send (in 4 copies) CV, passport photos, an essay and a sound recording directly to LillehammerUniversityCollege plus an application to the Universities and Colleges Admission Service (UCAS - Samordna opptak). An interview is a part of the admission procedure, and ordinary admission points are therefore not calculated (read more about admission under “Full programme”).

Further education
The Bachelor’s degree programme in Television Technique qualifies for further studies on the Master’s degree level. The university college has prepared a plan for a Master’s degree programme in Television Production, and has applied for approval of the programme with an aim to start in the autumn of 2007.

Teaching and learning methods

The education is based on an interaction between theory and practice. There will be lectures, seminars and group and individual supervision. The students will complete a number of productions during the programme, both single- and multi-camera productions. The productions will be made in cooperation with students in the Television Direction programme. The students must be prepared for some compulsory activity outside of normal working hours.

The students are required to participate in the teaching arrangements. All teaching activities in connection with productions are compulsory.

All the productions are made in cooperation with students from Television direction. In addition, the students will hand in a written report which includes a technical report with discussion on the choice of technical equipment, a production report and self-evaluation. The Bachelor's thesis is evaluated as passed/failed. The oral examination may adjust the grade of the Bachelor's thesis.
