A significant advantage when solving many tasks in today’s society would be to be able to include educational perspectives in a purposeful way. This programme is a basic programme aiming to provide the students with insight into childhood and learning conditions, especially in connection with the function which teaching and education have in the development of society, culture and the individual.
The aim of the programme is for the students to acquire:
Rune Hausstätter or Bjørn Overland
Lillehammer
The programme is divided into two half-year units (courses) of 30 credits with final examination in each course.
Each course consists of two topics. The first course starts off by an introductory course. The courses count equally. After the introductory course, the students take two courses which are offered every second academic year.
The second half-year unit (course 2) is offered in the academic year 2006/2007, and includes the introductory course and the two topics "Negotiation and influence" and “Society and education”.
The first half-year unit (course 1) is offered in the academic year 2007/2008, and includes “History of education and socialisation” and “Knowledge and learning”.
This means that new and advanced students work together on some parts, but the students will be organised in the initially established groups, and the curriculum will differ somewhat for new and advanced students.
Admission requirementsHigher Education Entrance Qualification or prior learning and work experience.
The programme is offered both through traditional teaching and supervision and through distance education in the form of video, CD-ROM and other modern facilities. The students meet at Lillehammer once or twice per semester. Otherwise, the students work in groups via distance education, and get supervision via the web-based learning environment.
Course literature will be announced, and this must be read for each problem issue. In total, the literature amounts to app. 4000 pages.
AssessmentWork requirements: The topics are completed by a written individual or group assignment which will be evaluated as passed/failed. The assignment must be approved before the next topic is taken. All in
Examination: Each course (half-year unit) is completed by an individual written home examination (14 days). The final total grade is decided after an oral test. It will be evaluated by letter grades.
