Sports are more than training. Students who choose to study sports at LillehammerUniversityCollege will learn about the role and function of sports in society in addition to acquire more knowledge of training.

The aim of the programme is for the students to acquire knowledge of different aspects of sports, from its social significance to what it means for the individual to do sports and physical activity.

The courses can be taken in the order which suits the student best. This is especially relevant for those who wish to take the programme over a longer period of time. Students who do top-level sports will probably find this relevant.

Teaching and learning methods

One of the main aims of this one-year programme is to offer a sports education which is as flexible as possible, especially directed towards students who combine education with top-level sports.

There will be arranged for a combination of lectures, group work, sports activities and individual work. This will vary depending on course.

Elements such as the following should contribute to a flexible education:

  • Use of the web-based learning environment ClassFronter, which makes it possible for students who travel a lot to follow the educational activities. Everything presented by course teachers in lectures and by students in assignments will be available in ClassFronter.
  • There must be many learning resources available on the Internet. The students must be able to reach the course teacher if they have questions or need supervision.
  • Use of the web-based learning environment for discussions, exchanging exercises etc.
  • The students can choose to work individually or in groups.
Assessment

There will be portfolio assessment, written work, oral examination and day examination. See each course for details.
