Ida Hydle is a mediator and facilitator in the Mediation and Reconciliation Council in Agder, South Norway. For the time being she works as senior researcher at NOVA, Norwegian Social Research in Oslo, in the group Youth Research. She is educated as a medical doctor and a social anthropologist and has a PhD in both fields. For the last three years she had a research grant from the Norwegian Research Council together with the linguist Ingrid Kristine Hasund, on the project "Conflict Regimes" (Konfliktregimer). The research is based on an evaluation of a trial project launched by the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and concerns organised meetings between offenders and victims in serious cases of violence. A textbook was launched in February 2007: ”Ansikt til ansikt – om konfliktrådsmegling mellom gjerningsmann og offer i voldssaker” (Face to face – on meetings between offenders and victims in cases of violence). Her teaching- and research issues are e.g. restorative justice, legal anthropology, ethics, cultural awareness, violence and abuse.
