Research documentation system
UiO, NTNU, UiB and UiT joined forces in 2003 to develop a joint registration system for research data. The system is called Frida - Research Results, Information and Documentation of Research Activities.
The objective of the Frida system is to simplify and quality assure the reporting of research results and annual reporting, and contribute to research and other competence being made more visible.
Each faculty/NFH is responsible for the introduction of the Frida system and for education on how to use the system. The contact people at the respective faculties and Frida Co-ordinator Johanne Raade at the Section for Research Administration can provide assistance to use the system.
Registration of publications
Each individual researcher should register their own publications in the Frida system. There are two ways to do this:
1. Frida extracts the publication data from the following publication databases: ISI, NORART and BIBSYS. Publications that are already in these databases should be selected by the researcher by importing the publication
See guidelines for import of publications.
2. Publications that the researcher cannot find by importing must be registered manually. See guidelines for registering publications in Frida.
All scientific publications should be registered in Frida. When reporting, researchers only receive credit for the following types of publications:
Articles published in scientific journals
Scientific monographs
Scientific anthologies and chapters there of
Journals are sorted in two levels: level one and level two. Level two is the highest. All level two periodicals have been determined by the Norwegian Council for Higher Education in conjunction with the respective faculty committees. Input for level one periodicals should be sent to the Norsk samfunnsvitskaplag datateneste (NSD)
This page also contains a list of all approved channels of publication.
If scientific monographs and anthologies are published by a publishing firm, the publisher’s name must be registered. This is achieved by selecting “Forlag” (publishing firm) when you are logged on to Frida. Other publishing firms are called “utgiver” (publishers), which has a separate field on the screen. Approved publishers receive credit when the publication is registered as a scientific monograph or anthology (not textbooks or similar).
