FYS-8011 Detection theory

Contents The course is an extension of FYS-2006 Signal Processing and FYS-2007 Statistical Signal Theory. Programming knowledge is required. The subject deals with stochastic processes, analytical signals, hypothesis testing applied to signal detection, optimal receivers, estimation theory and limits for the variance of estimators. Both classical and Bayes-based detectors and estimators will be discussed. Radar/sonar and digital communication will be used as examples and applications.
