Sub projects

Four sub projects are formed under the umbrella of the 'Globalization from Below' project. By February 2005, they formulated statements from each group. The statements articulate research focus and shared interests for the members of each group:

I: Citizenship and Democracy: Networking Local Governance
Places and territories (still) matter, and their development depend on processes in which local level democracy may - or may not - play an important, less important, or decisive role...

II: Place Enactment
Our group has started its discussions from a common interest in the social processes of 'making a place', expressing what is unique about a place, how it should be presented and understood, and what it is that defines the identity of a place...

III: Socio-economic networks
The purpose of the group is to create a platform for discussion on socio-economic networks. The group functions as a study group, and members are committed by common interests...

IV: Encounters
Encounters between people is somewhat the organising concept in this group, but as observed from our first group session in Roskilde, we have divergent methodological approaches to it...
