This cource consists of working on an independent master''s degree dissertation based on a self-selected or allocated subject (HIS-3900). Each student is appointed a supervisor towards the end of the first semester for academic support, especially in connection with the preparation and execution of the work relating to the master''s degree dissertation. The work on the dissertation must be linked to a seminar series that presumes active and compulsory student participation.

In the form of a master''s degree dissertation in which a written appraisal will be followed by an oral examination at the end of the fourth semester. The completed dissertation should be 70-100 pages in length (space and a half format).
The deadline for submitting the master''s degree dissertation is 15 May during the Spring semester and 1. November during the Autumn semester.
The eventual grading will be finalized for HIS-3900 after the oral examination.
Evaluated on a scale of A-E=pass and F=fail.

Teaching autumn 2006
Det blir tre samlingar for mastergradsstudentane hausten 2006 der det blir lagt fram arbeid med masteravhandlinga til kommentar/drøfting. Første gong: 4. september. Andre gong: 30.oktober. Tredje gong: 27.november.
Første gang: orienteringsmøtet 17.8.2006, kl. 14.15, rom M-025

Holt | | Forskerseminar | Masteroppgaveseminar: Emnet består av et oppgaveseminar der studentene presenterer kapittelutkast, notat, strøtanker og evt. skriftlige vurderinger i samband med arbeidet med masteroppgaven. Høsten 2006 blir det arrangert intensive dagsseminar med framlegg. Seminaret er obligatorisk i første semester for mastergradsstudentar, og samlingane fell saman med HIS-3001 på samlingsdagane slik at dei nye studentane skal ha læringsgevinstar av seminaret i oppstarten av sitt mastergradsstudium.

Program for seminaret
Bruk av Class Fronter
Det elektroniske klasserommet Class Fronter vil bli brukt som arbeidsverktøy i forbindelse med seminaret. Her vil bidrag til seminaret bli lagt ut seinest torsdag før seminardagen. Det kan opprettes mappe for hver enkelt, slik at man kan følge og kommentere avhandlingsarbeidet til hverandre.
