French studies
Years 1-3
The in-depth requirement in French studies is 90 ECTS in years 1-3 and consists of the following components:
- 60 ECTS FRA-1000 courses
- 30 ECTS FRA-2000 courses
All 1000 (basic) courses are obligatory:
FRA-1011 French language I: Grammar with phonology (10 ECTS) (Spring)
FRA-1012 Translation French-Norwegian/Norwegian-French (10 ECTS) (Autumn)
FRA-1021 French language II: Grammar (10 ECTS) (Autumn)
FRA-1111 French literature I: French literature history with text samples (10 ECTS) (Spring)
FRA-1121 French literature II (10 ECTS) (Autumn)
FRA-1211 French culture studies I: Civilisation (10 ECTS) (Spring)
Three FRA-2000-courses are offered:
FRA-2031 French Language IV (ECTS) (Spring)
FRA-2131 French Literature III (10 ECTS) (Spring)
FRA-2221 French Cultural Knowledge II (10 ECTS) (Spring)

In addition to the practical-educational training, which accounts for 60 ECTS, students must take 30 ECTS of FRA-3000 courses in an optional combination and write a master’s thesis of 40 ECTS (FRA-3903).
60-credit group
All courses in the 60 ECTS group are obligatory: FRA-1011, FRA-1012, FRA-1021, FRA-1111, FRA-1121 and FRA-1211.
