Years 1-3
This line of study has an in-depth requirement of 90 ECTS in years 1-3 and consists of the following components:
As of the spring of 2005, the discipline will start every 4 semesters: The first semester of Finnish 1000-level courses in the spring of 2005, 2007 etc.

TYS-1110 Foundation course in German literature (10 ECTS) (Autumn)
Four TYS-2000 courses are offered:
TYS-2010 Knowledge of German (10 ECTS) (Spring)
TYS-2011 German text and translation 2 (10 ECTS) (Autumn)
TYS-2110 Goethe & Co: Historical aspects of German literature and culture studies (10 ECTS) (Spring)
TYS-2111 Schlegel & Co: Systematic aspects of German literature and culture studies (10 ECTS) (Spring)
Students are required to take one TYS-2000 course in language and one in literature. Students choose the final course from the two remaining courses.
Years 4-5
In addition to the practical-educational training, which accounts for 60 ECTS, students must write a master’s thesis worth 40 ECTS (TYS-3930). It is a condition that students take at least one course related to practical language use, although they are otherwise free to choose between the obligatory TYS-3000 courses:
