Science subjects
Science subjects comprise mathematical, science and technological subjects. Mathematics, technology and science are the stones in the building of a modern society, and there is a high demand for scientific competence, both in school work and working life in general.
Among the science subjects, the University of Tromsø offers a wide variety of study options within several study programmes. In many of the specialist fields, the university’s northern location is particularly prominent, with co-operation between, to name but a couple, Northern Lights research and research in Arctic nature and environment.
Science studies create opportunities for employment in research and education, technical and technological areas, in industry, in business and in public sector management.
In addition, science subjects are taught at the Norwegian College of Fishery Science, including marine biology, fishing subjects, fish health and aquaculture.
Science subjects are also offered at the Faculty of Medicine with study options including biology, medicine, pharmaceutics, dentistry and health science.
The University Museum of Tromsø also has scientific researchers and passes on science through exhibitions and publications.
