Language and cultural subjects

You can find subjects concerning language and culture at both the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The Faculty of Humanities teaches language, literature, art history, documentation studies and library studies.

The university offers programmes in English, Finnish, French, Greek, Latin, Nordic languages, Russian, Saami and German.

The subject of documentation studies is offered only at the University of Tromsø, and we also have the Department of Culture and Literature.

The Faculty of Humanities co-operates with the Norwegian College of Fishery Science regarding study options in language and economics.

At the Faculty of Social Sciences, you can also study cultural subjects such as religious studies, archaeology, history and philosophy.
