The Department of Computer Science offers two bachelor programmes:
The objective for the 3-year bachelor programme in computer science is to give a basic education in the central areas of the discipline. The programme covers both the theoretical basis and the experimental methods in computer science as well as the mathematical tools necessary to achieve the required level of competence upon completion of the programme.

Each Computer Science course in the program covers both a theoretical and an experimental approach to the discipline. After the basic courses in programming, algorithms and computer fundamentals, you continue with core Computer Science courses, such as: computer architecture, operating systems, network and databases. Each of these subjects can be the fundament of specialization in a masterprogramme in Computer Science, with emphasis on Systems.

F3 INF-2301 Computer communication and security Elective course Elective course
S2 INF-2201 Operating systems fundamentals STA-1001 Probability and Statistics 1
F2 INF-2200 Computer architecture and organization INF-2700 Databases Elective course
S1 INF-1101 Data structures and algorithms Elective course MAT-1004 Linear algebra
F1 INF-1100 Programming fundamentals MAT-1001 Calculus 1 MAT-1005 Discrete mathematics 1

The programme offers various forms of instruction. Most courses consists of lectures as well as tutorials and colloquia. In the lectures the theory of the syllabus is covered. In the colloquium students are active by solving assignments and discussing aspects of the field. A significant part of all courses in Computer Science is the experimental training at the programming laboratories.
Mandatory coursework is given to each course. Approved assignments give access to the exam. The examination structure differs between the courses; from written examination to project work reports, presentation of scientific work or oral examination. And often a combination of these methods.
For further information on evaluation, examination and assessments, see the individual course descriptions.

When completing the programme, the qualification awarded is a Bachelor of Science degree. This qualifies the candidates for admission to the 2-year Master’s degree programme in Computer Science.
