View from the Computer Centre

The Computer Centre is the main supplier of computer infrastructure, computing services, and applications to students and employees at the University of Tromsø.

The Computer Centre is organised in three sections: ADB is mainly supporting the administrative function at the University with databases, business applications and security systems.

The Networking Group is controlling LANs, the Campus backbone, and the connection to the Internet. It is also a Uninett resource node in Northern Norway.

The Systems Operations Group is maintaining the central IT services an application support, such as centralised filesystem, backup, terminal services, etc. High Performance Computing is also one of the main tasks within the Systems Operations Group.
