Practical organic chemistry

Work Load 10  credits (ECTS)

Contents The course is mainly a laboratory course dealing with different aspects of practical organic chemistry. The students will learn the principles of the most common organic reactions, spectroscopic (IR and NMR) and chromatographic methods (GC, column chromatography). An introduction to search in the chemical literature will be given.

Form of teaching Lectures: 15 hrs Tutorial hours (including practical laboratory exercises): 90 hrs

Compulsory teaching Laboratory course3 obligatoriske oppgaver

Assessment Seminars (compulsory attendance), compulsory exercises, written exam 3 hrs. Pass/fail.

Examination semester Autumn

Date(s) of written examination 21.10.2005 The exam date is preliminary and may be subject to change. Definitive exam date will be announced on the notice boards at the faculties in the beginning of May for the spring semester and in the beginning of November for the autumn semester.
