Microscopic basis for thermodynamics and kinetics

Work Load 10  credits (ECTS)

Contents Statistical thermodynamics, distribution laws and thermodynamic functions expressed by the way of partition functions. Chemical reaction kinetics, chain reactions, catalysis and enzyme reactions. Kinetic theory of gases. Activated complex theory.

Form of teaching Lectures: 30 h Seminars: 24 h Practical work: 3 exercises à 6 h

Assessment Three practical exercises that are closely related to the course will be evaluated underway. Results from these will contribute 30% of the final grade for the course. The remaining 70% will be assessed from a written examination at the end of the course.
