Elective subject for students on the master programme in Religious Studies.
| Contents
This course centres on the relationship between religion and film. Some of the problems focused on concerns the film¿s impact on religious preaching in different parts of the world; film, propaganda and censorship; film as a substitute for religion and conveyor of values; the philosophy of film and its history. Another important task is to analyze religious motifs and tendencies in a selection of films. These analyses are connected to film both as myths and symbol theoretical reasoning, with particular emphasis on films with no other expressively pronounced confessional background.
| Exam and assessment
One 1 week home examination (10 pages/approx. 3500 words) over a given topic. No oral examination. Grading: A-E=pass, F=fail. Failing students will be offered a re-sit examination.
