What is program? What is Course?
A program is a predetermined course of study leading to a degree at either the Bachelor’s Master’s or Ph.D.level.
A program is defined as "a given number of courses which a student has the right to take in the event of acceptance". A course is "the smallest unit of study in which an exam can be taken and a grade obtained". At the University of Tromsø, all courses are generally 10 or 20 credits.
A program determines which courses are obligatory, as well as the appropriate order in which to take the courses. Many programs also provide suggestions pertaining to other possible courses of interest and relevance that can be suitable as elective or supporting courses.
