HEL-3960: Master thesis in health science Work Load
60 credits (ECTS) | Contents
The Master thesis provides for concentrated study in the student''s own subject area. The students are given the opportunity for systematic theoretical work with themes within their own subject area, for example from their own professional experiences. The thesis shall have relevance for the subject in which the student has her or his bachelor''s degree or undergraduate education (nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, radiography or mental health nursing).
The master thesis is expected to reveal evidence that the student further develops competence in professional independence. The work shall give students training in dealing with questions and themes in the profession from a theoretical perspective and to further develop critical understanding of methodological questions.
The thesis shall be a theoretical discussion and reflection on published or unpublished literature within the subject area. It may also include collection of one''s own empirical material within certain limits, or the student may use existing empirical material which then will be adapted methodically and theoretically.
A part of the work with the master thesis includes required seminars where the students present their projects for critical review with teachers and fellow students
