NOR-2020: Old Norse Philology. Special course for foreign students.

Work Load
10  credits (ECTS)
Objectives
The course is intended as a basic introduction to Norse philology. The student must therefore have gained or gain a basis in Norse grammar sufficient to read both standardised an non-standardised texts from the Middle Ages. While the standardised texts are intended mainly to support the study of grammar and to give an impression of different literary genres, the study of the non-standardised texts will provide insight into philological work with medieval texts, and show how these are used as sources in language history.
Contents
The course in Norse philology is an introduction to the study of Nordic medieval texts, both standardised and non-standardised.
