BIO-3300: Methods in biochemistry Work Load

The course should give the student skills and insight into state of the art biochemical methods for biological and medical research. | Contents
The course will give the student insight into biochemical methods to be applied within biology and medical research. Methods will be included as an integrated and supporting part of three central courses. With the introductory lectures as a point of departure, the emphasis will be on practical lab work. Keywords: model systems of glycoprotein, enzymes and DNA from blood, egg, blood cells, human cell membrane, yeast and bacteria. The methods (which may vary slightly from year to year) include varieties of electrophoresis, chromatography, enzyme kinetics, immunochemistry, cell (culture) work and analysis of signal routes, protein domains and protein expression (homologous heterologous). | Compulsory prerequisites
BIO-1001 Cell and molecular biology | Form of teaching
12 hrs of lectures, 12 hrs of seminars, 66 hrs of lab work. The lab exercises are compulsory and the lab reports need to be approved prior to final exam. | Assessment
