The practical school experience will give students training and proficiency in implementing teaching and other tasks done by teachers, while at the same time creating a basis for personal development and the school''s own development as an institution. The school experience will contribute to educating reflective teachers with practical proficiency. | Contents
During the practical school experience the trainee teacher is to observe, plan, implement and assess their training under the supervision of a mentor. Those that work in pairs during their school experience, will also practise colleague-based mentoring.The trainee teachers should, as far as possible, become an integrated part of the teaching staff and participate in the activities that the school organises. | Form of teaching
Within the course of three terms trainee teachers are to participate in a practical school experience for altogether 14 weeks. During this period they are to observe, plan, implement and assess teaching under the supervision of a mentor at the actual school. The trainee teacher will receive five visits with mentored, by staff from the Department of Educatuin (IPLU), University of Tromsø, Norway. | Exam and assessment
Towards the end of the course trainee teachers will be evaluated as to how well they have achieved the set aims that are formulated for the practical school experience and for the complete course. | Recommended reading/syllabus
