The course will examine aspects of the period between 1300 and 1500, to consider those debates - including the debate around the origins of the transition from feudalism to capitalism, and how that series of changes began in this period. Also considered are the implications for Scandinavia - in particular the traditional attribution of the decline of the medieval Norwegian state to the Black Death and its consequences.
