This course is based on previous knowledge of mathematics and physics corresponding to the levels of MAT-1001 Calculus 1 and 2FY from the Norwegian High School. The course is an introduction to "Electrical Engineering" and will give the students introductory knowledge about digital design principles and applications. The subject will be put in a general context, both toward computers and "digital everyday life", and toward microelectronics and fundamental physics. The course covers number systems, logical ports, combinatorial and sequential logic, modular systems, and state machines. Mainly programmable logical circuits will be used, and applications will be trained through laboratory tasks and projects. A laboratory log must be approved before exam.
