Objectives
The course will enable students to critically analyse and evaluate the relevance and importance of cultural and societal contexts in relation to conflict.
Form of teaching
The teaching has a combined lecture and seminar form. The students are required to give an oral presentation in class towards the end of the teaching period. An oral presentation (10-15 minutes) must draw attention to a topic related to cultural, religious or psychological issues in the student''s home country or a chosen region. The objective of the presentation is to ensure individual reflection on the students'' background and comparative aspects of conflicts, violence and culture. The requirement of the oral presentation is furthermore to engage students at an early stage of the programme with developing and presenting their ideas, which is an ongoing part of the programme, as well as encouraging students to begin developing ideas about their master''s thesis project.

An approved presentation is required for the right to attend the examination.

Lectures/semianrs are offered weekly. The course starts early in the 1st semester of the MPCT-programme. The teaching lasts 6-8 weeks.
