| Objectives
Obligatory subject for students on the master programme in Religious Studies, general branch of study. The course is a continuation of the courses REL-1050 and REL-2050, and aims at deepening the understanding of theory and method in the study of religion. Special attention will be paid to the intellectual development in religious studies during the 19th and 20th century, thus serving the critical reflexion on contemporary theories by increasing the awareness of their historicity. | Contents
This subject is a continuation of the courses REL-1050 and REL-2050, and aims to explore religious scientific theory and method in greater detail. There will be a particular focus on scientific theory, fundamental problematics and contemporary debate within the field.
| Form of teaching
Lectures and seminars.
| Exam and assessment
One 2 week home examination (20 pages/approx. 7000 words) over a given topic. No oral examination. Grading: A-E=pass, F=fail. Failing students will be offered a re-sit examination.
