How will the future be if global warming continues? What are the concequences of melted glaciers and polar icecaps? In this exhibition, the future generations of Planet Earth give their views on the prospects of the environment.
Staged by the UNEP, this exhibition follows from a world-wide painting competition. More that 13,000 your artists contributed their artwork. Spanning a range of thoughts, emotions and rational, this exhibition show that young people of today have much knowledge about the threats to our environment. The paintings presented here give a warning to the adults; it could be seen as a raised finger to those who intend to leave a damaged climate into the hands of their children. Yet, we see in many of the painitings hope and good wishes for the future, and a willing to take action.
The exhibition opening formed part of the World Enivironment Day celebrations here in Tromsø. With Crown Pirnce Haakon of Norway as a guest of honour, the exhibition was opened by UNEPs director Achim Steiner. Nine of the young artists were present too, gathering from all parts of the world. They enjoyed a few days in Tromsø, including a visit to the museum and a nice boat trip.
