The Department of Sámi Ethnography is concentrating about research, collecting and documentating, the collections, the external activity and arrangements, and teaching primarily about Sámi Culture. Since the Sámi cultural development/display and ethnopoltical activity more and more is distinguished by the community of the 4th worlds people, the activities of the department include within research, documentating, and arrangements also a special weight on the Sub-Arctic area. The department is now engaged to develop new ways of arranging within their field and is now starting to work with a new project about exhibiting the Sámi society since the 2nd World War.
